Precision Anti-Cancer Medicine: opportunities knock for young investigators in Friuli Venezia Giulia and Tyrol with PreCanMed

First date today for young investigators in anti-cancer research with the training initiatives of PreCanMed, the cross border project on precision anti-cancer medicine funded by the European Union, within the Interreg Italia-Austria Programme 2014-2020. The secrets of one of the most advanced research technology and a fast-track to personalized approaches in medicine will be in the hands of the participants to the first Summer School on Tumor Organoids organized by PreCanMed in Innsbruck.

Also this year the Department of Medicine (University of Udine) has given high school students the opportunity to get an overview of a certain scientific fields. Students were allowed to attend the Professor Tell's laboratory of molecular biology and DNA repair. The work experience has given them the possibility to practice team-work skills, to develop knowledges, to gain insight into a specific sector and to clarify their career goals. The study/work experience week tutored high school students bridge the gap between theory and practice by providing in site tours and opportunities to gain hands-on and practical experience with the University.
Fight against cancer: AIRC supports 3 projects with more than € 1 million

Associazione Italiana per la Ricerca sul Cancro (AIRC) uses its funds to support cancer research in Italy. AIRC's mission is to understand, prevent and cure cancer through research and outreach activities. AIRC has recently financed three research projects on cancer cells with 1.250.000 Euros. The new studies started in January are sustained for five years in order to develop new medicines for the treatment of tomours, making the diagnosis even more precocious and enabling choice of personalised therapies. Those studies are based on a recent research published in the scientific journal Nature Communications carried out by the research team of the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and DNA Repair.
